Wegovy (Semaglutide) and Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) access in Cheshire and Merseyside
Following on from previous communications Cheshire and Merseyside ICB has updated the statement on its website covering the latest position in relation to Specialist Weight Management Services and GLP1 weight loss drugs click here .
Within this update is a link to the Interim Commissioning Policy – Remote Tier 3 Weight Management Services which has recently been developed by the ICB to provide guidance to GPs in relation to referrals to providers of services of this nature. This is in line with the information Oviva have communicated directly with GPs as part of their marketing and published on their website in relation to following local referral criteria in relation to “right to choose”. The policy includes Cheshire and Merseyside criteria in relation to:
- Clinical eligibility, and also stipulates that:
- Services should:
- be part of a full clinical Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure patients are fully triaged, counselled and assessed as part of the pathway for bariatric surgery.
- be able to provide the patient with access to a locally accessible face to face treatment option as well as a purely remote digital pathway.
ICB has been unable to confirm that Oviva are currently able to offer services in line with this policy. Therefore we are not able to refer to this service. If you have any enquiries please contact Cheshire and Merseyside ICB
